Ruching & red carnation dress
Wendy Ganley started her label Elle in Hamilton in 1963. She sold her designs from her boutique in central Hamilton, and also opened a store in Auckland in 1966. The same year this dress was made, 1974, Wendy moved her Auckland retail store to the top of Vulcan Lane. It was an old vault with a small space upstairs and larger downstairs. The new store had a red front with a red awning over the window that was very visible from Queen Street.
